Burnley Balloon Festival is one of the main events of the year with huge and colourful hot air balloons taking to the skies over the town and a spectacular nightglow and fireworks display in the evening. The Community Festival has bands, entertainment and crafts stalls; while the Classic Car Show is one of the best shows in the area to see vintage vehicles in pristine condition, polished and gleaming for car enthusiasts to enjoy.
Heritage Open Days is the biggest free celebration of Britain's architecture, heritage and culture and in Burnley and Padiham you can check out over 30 different openings and special events over four days in September. The Heritage and Woodland Festival ends this long weekend in style with willow weavers and woodcarvers, lumberjacks and birds of prey, re-enactors and classic cars all contributing to a brilliant day out.
In early autumn the South Pennines Walking Festival has guided walks across the heather covered moors and hills surrounding Burnley, giving you the chance to see the beautiful autumn colours as the leaves change on the trees.
Then with winter fast approaching the brave among you can take a ride on the ghost train at Halloween, enjoy bonfire night fun or see the Christmas lights switch on in Burnley and Padiham town centres. Lots of exciting Christmas events from Santa in the Parks to carol concerts at Towneley Hall end the year in style.
